Junaid Shabir: Pulwama youth to pursue MPhil from Cambridge University | KNO

Pulwama, Mar 08 (KNO): A youth from a hamlet of Pulwama, has been offered admission to MPhil English by a World’s Top University. Junaid Shabir, a resident of Sonrigund village in Awantipora area of Pulwama completed his masters in English from the south campus of Kashmir University and would join Cambridge to pursue his further research in English literature in the coming months. While talking to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), Junaid said that a year before he knew nothing about selection criteria and other formalities required to secure admission in top universities like Cambridge but he used the COVID19 pandemic lockdown as an opportunity to help himself realize his dream. "It took him almost a year to build a strong application and polish is Curriculum Vitae to be competitive enough in World’s top institutions. I am very passionate about doing research on literature from the contemporary disturbed zones of the world," he said. Junaid said his project will explore the poetry that emerges from Kashmir, Palestine and Tibet comparatively to bring to limelight the prevailing situations of the regions. “I hope to explore the poetry that depicts the lived realities of my people,” he said. Junaid said he faced many impediments in his path while preparing for the application. "At times I had to travel a distance of 40 kilometres just to use the internet when it was completely suspended in Kashmir," he said. He admits that graduate admission to top universities of the world is not easy but assures that it becomes easy once a candidate has the will to achieve and is ready to face hardships and tackle difficulties with resoluteness—(KNO)
